The Dajishan deposit is a well-known tungsten and niobium-tantalum deposit in China. Due to the technological restrictions, little work has been done on the ages of ore-forming and related granite in Dajishan for a long time. By means of the single-zircon U-Pb isotopic method, the intrusion age is reported in this paper, which is By quick neutron mobilization method, an 40 Ar- 39 Ar age of mica from the major ore vein is determined, yielding ore-forming ages of Ma and Ma. Combining these age data with the occurrences of the main granite body, the patched body, the major ore veins and Na-Ta mineralization, the paper discusses their formation orders and relationships.
These data also show that the Dajishan granite and its related mineralizations are the product of magmatism in the middle Yanshanian stage and a part of the secondary large-scale mineralization in the Mesozoic.

A pluton is a body of intrusive igneous rock that crystallized from slowly cooling magma at depths of several kilometers beneath the surface of the Earth. Therefore, the youngest exposed pluton represents the most recent tectonic uplift and highest exhumation. The HMR is known to have the highest uplift and denudation rates during the Quaternary in Japan 1 , 2. These ages were largely determined by K-Ar and fission-track dating methods 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 with relatively low closure temperatures and hence predominantly postdate the magmatic intrusions.
Therefore, the exact timing of magmatic intrusion in the HMR has been unclear. Location of the study site inset and geological map 42 of the Hida Mountain Range showing the sample locations and U-Pb ages. Sample names are shown near the sampling point; two-digit numbers indicate KRG samples. Two stages of mountain building have been assumed for the Quaternary tectonics in the HMR: a period of magmatic intrusion from 2.
Welcome to Nelson Granite,
Radiometric dating , radioactive dating or radioisotope dating is a technique which is used to date materials such as rocks or carbon , in which trace radioactive impurities were selectively incorporated when they were formed. The method compares the abundance of a naturally occurring radioactive isotope within the material to the abundance of its decay products, which form at a known constant rate of decay.
Together with stratigraphic principles , radiometric dating methods are used in geochronology to establish the geologic time scale. By allowing the establishment of geological timescales, it provides a significant source of information about the ages of fossils and the deduced rates of evolutionary change. Radiometric dating is also used to date archaeological materials, including ancient artifacts.
Different methods of radiometric dating vary in the timescale over which they are accurate and the materials to which they can be applied.

Lorence G. Collins January The creationists are asking for equal time in science classrooms to teach that the Genesis stories are valid scientific interpretations of earth history. Equal time for creationists’ interpretations are not likely to occur in secular universities and schools, but if the creationist are serious about equal time, then they should be open to granting equal time in their private Christian schools for presentations of both sides of a scientific issue a literalist biblical view and the modern science view.
The origin, age, and other characteristic features of granite are such issues deserving equal time. The Bible says that the dry land was created on the Third Day of the Genesis Week Genesis , and presumably, this is the time in which granite in continental masses was formed. If I were given equal time in a science classroom at a private, fundamentalist, Christian college or secondary school, advocating creationists’ views, the following would be the kinds of information that I would provide for a modern scientific interpretation of granite to compare with the corresponding creationists’ biblical interpretation.
Geologists recognize that granite has several possible origins, depending upon the processes that operate on the rock systems. Some granites form 1 by magmatic processes, depending upon crystal settling and the order of crystallization of minerals from a magma melted silicate rock , 2 by melting of sedimentary rocks whose chemical composition is the same as that in granite, 3 by partial melting of rocks in which the first minerals to melt have the composition of granite, and, finally, 4 by chemical replacement processes Clark, ; Collins, ; Hunt et al.
Discussion of these different origins is not further expanded here because of space limitations and because it is sufficient to say that modern scientific studies show that granite is formed in many different ways, and these ways contrast with the creationists’ model in which granite has a single origin, being created nearly instantly by “fiat” e. Mineral composition.
Granite, a relatively coarse-grained igneous rock, is not a pure substance but is a mixture of several different silicate minerals and oxides Clarke, It commonly consists of about one-third quartz, one-third potassium feldspar, one-third plagioclase feldspar, minor amounts of iron- and magnesium-bearing biotite black mica , and traces of various accessory minerals, including zircon mentioned later.
In addition to biotite, other varieties of granite may contain small amounts of other iron- and magnesium-bearing silicates or muscovite mica, but biotite granite is the most common variety.

The first U—Pb geochronological results on the magmatic alignment of the Los Pedroches batholith are presented. The batholith is composed of a main granodioritic unit, several granite plutons and an important acid to basic dyke complex, all of them intrusive after the main Variscan regional deformation phase, D1, along the boundary between the Ossa-Morena and Central Iberian zones SW Iberian Massif.
Zircons from samples on both extremes of the granodiorite massif record nearly simultaneous magmatic crystallization at ca. The U—Pb results combined with new field and textural observations allow to better constrain the age of Variscan deformations D2 and D3 across the region, while the age of D1 remains imprecise.
D3 faults and shear bands bearing a strong extensional component developed at ca. Together with available geochemical and geophysical information, these results point to the Variscan reactivation of lithospheric fractures at the origin and subsequent emplacement of hybrid magmas within this sector of the Massif.

Searching for a job, especially your first job, is a lot like online dating. It begins as a time commitment, gets nerve-wracking towards the middle, but ends in success and happiness if you follow the right process. Like many single people with access to current technology, I ventured into the world of online dating.
I went for coffee with potential mates who were instant no way s, some who left me scratching my head, and a few who I found a connection with. But hang on. We are here to talk about professional development, not my love life. Being on the job hunt is not easy. Occasionally, it is overwhelming and intimidating, but when taken one step at a time, it can be a manageable and an exciting process.
The first step of online dating is the most important: create your dating profile. Your profile is where you put your best foot forward and show off all of your attractive qualities through visuals and text. Like dating profiles, they are detailed and should paint a picture for other prospective dates or future employers supporting why you deserve a chance at their love—an interview.
Your written description is very important to display who you are. Logically, if my online dating profile presented studious and quiet personality traits, I would likely start receiving messages from potential mates who are looking for someone who is seeking those traits. For example, hospitality jobs or positions that require you to interact with many people on a daily basis should be warm and welcoming while analytical jobs, such as accounting or research positions, should reflect an astute attention to detail.

The inferred relationship of the Manaslu granite with important Himalayan tectonic structures has inspired repeated attempts to determine its crystallization age, but several geochemical controls have hampered these geochronological investigations.
Economic Geology ; 3 : — Permian-Triassic granites and associated tin deposits are widespread in the Eastern and Western belts of Peninsular Malaysia. The ages and key controlling factors of tin mineralization, however, are poorly constrained. These ages directly constrain the tin mineralization in Peninsular Malaysia to two separate periods: to Ma and to Ma. Zircon crystals from tin-bearing granites in the Cherul and Sintok deposits have U-Pb ages of Zircon crystals from barren granites of the Kuantan pluton in the Eastern belt have a U-Pb age of

Abstract: The Rochovce Granite — a subsurface intrusion in the southeastern part of the Veporic Unit, has been dated by means of the single zircon U-Pb method. The dated sample represents coarse-grained biotite monzogranite of the first intrusive phase. The morphology and composition of the zircon crystals were controlled by cathodoluminescence and electron microprobe analysis. The resulting U-Pb data plot on a discordia line with a lower intercept age of The lower intercept age is interpreted as the crystallization age of the Rochovce Granite.
Cathodoluminescence imaging excludes the presence of inherited cores or disturbing inclusions in the dated zircons. The intrusion and emplacement of the Rochovce Granite were most likely accomplished by NE-dipping, low-angle extensional normal faults, developed along the NW-SE sector of the Lubenik line at the contact between the Veporicum and Gemericum.
The new U-Pb single-zircon data prove the Late Cretaceous age of the Rochovce Granite and provide a further argument to recognize Cretaceous granite magmatism in the Western Carpathians. Impact factor for year – 1.
The Archean gneiss complex of West Greenland contains packages of unrelated rocks created during relatively short periods of time in arc-like magmatic environments, and having similarities to rocks formed at Phanerozoic convergent plate boundaries. The terranes of new Archean crust were amalgamated by collisional orogeny and then partitioned by post-assembly tectonic processes.
Having summarized the origin of West Greenland Archean crust in arc-like environments, this paper then focuses on new data concerning the latest Neoarchean post terrane-assembly “intra-continental” tectonic and magmatic evolution of the region. Following the youngest documented high pressure metamorphism in a clockwise P-T-t loop at Ma, attributed to tectonic thickening of the crust, there is in West Greenland a million year record of intermittent production of crustally-derived granite, shearing and folding under amphibolite facies conditions.
It formed post Ma, because granites of that age are truncated by it.

Most absolute age determinations in geology rely on radiometric methods. The earth is billions of years old. The main condition for the method is that the production rate of isotopes stays the same through ages, i. The production of isotopes from chemical elements is known as decay rate and it is considered a constant. Because it is driven by sun activity it was always questioned. Recent article S. Is decay constant?

Knowledge of the groundwater age is indispensable for understanding groundwater flow in crystalline rocks. The present study is the first to discuss the radiocarbon ages of groundwater in Abukuma granite, Fukushima Prefecture, northeast Japan. The vertical profiles of 14C dates and d13C are obtained from 3 boreholes depths of , , and m. Chemical and carbon isotopic compositions suggest that dead-carbon contamination of groundwater occurred during groundwater storage in the fractures.
The relationship between tritium and 14C data in 1 borehole suggests the simultaneous inflow of shallow groundwater to deeper levels occur for the depths between 60 and m.
